The International Criminal Court’s (ICC) Assembly of States Parties has urged Chad and Venezuela to reconsider their decisions to withdraw from the Court, warning that such moves could weaken global efforts to combat impunity.

In a statement released on 7 August 2026, the Assembly expressed “deep disappointment” at the withdrawal notifications from both nations and called on them to reverse course, emphasizing the importance of continued cooperation under the Rome Statute.
