If you were hoping to take advantage of the Capital One Savor Cash Rewards Credit Card's $250 cash bonus, you better act quickly: Capital One has announced the bonus is ending soon.

The Savor is a great low-cost cash-back card, earning an unlimited 3% back on a handful of everyday categories. Below, we cover how you can earn its welcome bonus and how it compares to other cash-back cards.

Senior reporter Jason Stauffer can answer your questions about how to make the most of your credit cards in his weekly Points Pro column. Submit yours here.

As far as most credit card welcome bonuses go, the Capital One Savor's is fairly easy to earn.Â

New cardholders can earn a one-time $250 cash bonus after spending $500 on purchases within the first three months. Not only is the total spending requirement of $500 on the lower side, but you're also getting a 50% return, earning half of that money back as a bonus. You also can spread out that total required $500 across three months, which means spending about $167 per month.

In terms of applying and qualifying for the Savor, the card is typically geared toward those with good or excellent credit, or a FICO Score of 670 and higher. If you're worried about getting approved, you can check your eligibility in as little as 90 seconds with Capital One's preapproval tool. Preapproval doesn't guarantee approval, but checking doesn't affect your credit score.

Since the card has a $0 annual fee, the bonus and any rewards you'll earn generate value from day one, as opposed to cards that charge an annual fee.

The Capital One Savor is a solid option for those looking to earn some cash back on everyday categories.Â

You'll earn 3% back at grocery stores, on dining, entertainment and popular streaming services. While the grocery store category excludes superstores like Walmart® and Target®, the entertainment category is fairly expansive. It covers tickets to movies, sporting events, zoos, bowling alleys and more, meaning you'll likely be earning 3% back on whatever weekend activity you choose.

If you're ever curious to experiment with Capital One's travel portal, you'll earn 5% cash back on hotels, vacation rentals and rental cars booked through it. For anything else that falls outside of the 3% or 5% categories, you'll earn 1% on all other purchases.

Rewards earned with the Savor can be redeemed for cash through a statement credit or check, gift cards, PayPal purchases, travel through Capital One Travel and more.

Tip: If you happen to live near a Capital One Cafe, cardholders can get 50% off all handcrafted beverages every day.

The Capital One Savor is a great card for food and entertainment, but if those aren't your top spending categories, you may want to consider a different option.

Welcome bonus: $200 cash back after you spend $500 on purchases in the first three months from account opening.

If your spending habits tend to change fairly often, the Chase Freedom Flex® and its rotating bonus categories could be a good fit. Each quarter you activate, your Freedom Flex will earn 5% cash back on up to $1,500 on combined purchases in the bonus categories offered (then 1%).

The card's bonus categories range from Amazon purchases to gas and EV charging. You can take a look at the Freedom Flex's 2026 categories — and past categories — in our guide to the Chase Freedom 5% cash-back calendar.

On top of the rotating categories, the card earns 3% on dining at restaurants (including takeout and eligible delivery services) and at drugstores, plus 5% back on travel booked through Chase Travel.

New cardholders receive an Intro APR for 15 months from account opening on purchases and balance transfers.

Member FDIC. Terms apply. Information about the Chase Freedom Flex® has been collected independently by Select and has not been reviewed or provided by the issuer of the card prior to publication.

The Chase Freedom Flex® is an excellent cash-back card with generous rotating quarterly categories. In additional the rewards, you also can take advantage of the intro APRs for purchases and balance transfer for more than a year.

Intro fee of either $5 or 3% of the amount of each transfer, whichever is greater, on transfers made within 60 days of account opening. After that, either $5 or 5% of the amount of each transfer, whichever is greater.

Welcome bonus: $200 cash back after spending $1,500 on purchases in the first six months of account opening

If you'd prefer to skip rewards categories altogether, the Citi Double Cash® Card earns a flat 2% cash back on all purchases: 1% back when you buy and another 1% back when you pay your bill. While 2% isn't the highest rewards rate compared to a bonus category card, you won't have to track your category spending or worry about spending caps and activation.

Rewards are technically earned as Citi ThankYou® Points, which can be redeemed for statement credits or a check or transferred to any of Citi's travel partners, which includes American Airlines.

Receive an intro APR for 18 months on balance transfers and earn at least 2% cash back on every purchase.

What makes the Citi Double Cash® Card special is that it sits near the top of its class in several categories. It is an excellent option if you want flat-rate rewards, a balance transfer intro-APR or no annual fee.

Highlights shown here are provided by the issuer and have not been reviewed by CNBC Select's editorial staff.

There is an intro balance transfer fee of 3% of each transfer (minimum $5) completed within the first 4 months of account opening. A balance transfer fee of 5% of each transfer ($5 minimum) applies if completed after 4 months of account opening.
