Rocket Lab Price Prediction: Record Backlog, Bigger Ambitions. Here’s Our Price Target
RKLB's backlog exploded 137% year over year to $2.4 billion, driving a BUY rating and a $121 price target implying 51% upside.
ASTS commands a $21 billion market cap on just $32 million in quarterly revenue, making RKLB's steep 76x sales premium look reasonable by comparison.
Peter Beck's Iridium acquisition targets transforming Rocket Lab into a self-launching tier-1 space communications platform, with a bull-case price target of $158.

Rocket Lab (NASDAQ:RKLB) delivered a quarter that reframes the investment case. Revenue hit a record, backlog exploded past $2 billion, and management inked a transformative deal to acquire Iridium.
Our 24/7 Wall St. price target for Rocket Lab is $120.55, implying meaningful upside from current levels. The recommendation is buy, with moderate confidence given execution risk on Neutron and multi-acquisition integration.
Rocket Lab shares are up 13.64% over the past week and 79.1% over the past year, but the stock still sits well below its 52-week high of $151.
Q2 FY2026, reported August 10, delivered revenue of $234.07 million, up 61.99% year over year and topping the $230.94 million consensus. GAAP EPS of -$0.08 missed expectations, weighed down by $8.58 million in acquisition transaction costs.
The signal is in the backlog: $2.36 billion, up 137% YoY, plus more than $1 billion in new contracts already signed in Q3. Q3 revenue guidance of $250 million to $265 million sets up another record.

Bulls have a clean story. The Iridium acquisition transforms Rocket Lab into a vertically integrated space communications platform. CEO Peter Beck framed it directly: "these moves position Rocket Lab to accelerate our future into space applications by becoming a self-launching, tier-1 space power that will deliver critical communications capability to millions of users worldwide."
Layer in the $397 million U.S. Space Force Flatellite contract, first geostationary satellite production for the U.S. government, and a 90-plus launch backlog, and near-term revenue visibility is substantial.
Our bull-case target of $158.06, roughly a 97% return, is achievable if Neutron ships on time in Q4 2026 and Iridium closes cleanly.
The bear scenario centers on execution and dilution. Rocket Lab raised $1.53 billion via ATM in H1 2026, and Q3 weighted-share count is guided to 641 million shares.
CEO Beck sold heavily across July 6-8, 2026 at prices between $81.59 and $101.57, though the transactions appear consistent with systematic diversification at elevated valuations. Our bear-case target of $94.53 assumes Neutron slips and Iridium integration drags on GAAP losses through 2027.
AST SpaceMobile (NASDAQ:ASTS) is the most relevant comp for the Iridium-era Rocket Lab thesis. ASTS carries a market cap of roughly $20.5 billion on Q2 revenue of just $31.5 million, a fraction of Rocket Lab's top line. That contrast makes RKLB's $46-52 billion market cap look expensive on absolute scale but reasonable on revenue-per-dollar-of-market-cap.
Planet Labs (NYSE:PL) is the small-satellite pure-play counterpoint. PL trades at a market cap of roughly $7.9 billion on FY2027 revenue guidance of $425 million to $441 million and adjusted EBITDA profitability. Planet generates positive cash flow, something Rocket Lab has yet to achieve.
On a price-to-sales basis, RKLB commands a steep premium (76x sales TTM) versus Planet's more grounded multiple. Rocket Lab's premium rests on launch monopoly economics and Iridium optionality rather than current fundamentals.
Here is where our model projects RKLB in the coming years, assuming Neutron enters commercial service and Iridium closes.
These projections assume Rocket Lab executes on Neutron and integrates Iridium without derailing gross margin expansion. Significant upside or downside could come from Neutron's inaugural launch outcome.
The 24/7 Wall St. price target of $120.55 reflects a buy with 50% confidence. The scale tips on backlog: a record $2.36 billion, plus $1 billion of Q3 signings, gives Rocket Lab multi-year revenue visibility that few peers can match.
The bull thesis hinges on Neutron delivering by year-end 2026 and the Iridium deal closing cleanly. The bear case rests on accelerating dilution or Neutron slipping into 2027. On balance, the risk-reward profile skews constructive.
