Through two weeks of the NFL preseason, most teams have felt the wrath of the injury bug. Washington Commanders quarterback Marcus Mariota suffered a sprained MCL that should hold him out for the remainder of the preseason, Minnesota Vikings defensive Swiss Army knife Jamal Adams suffered a season-ending injury in the Meadowlands, Houston Texans backup signal-caller Graham Mertz tore his ACL, and the Arizona Cardinals are dealing with several notable issues.

Winning the war of attrition is important for any Super Bowl contender, and a major injury could derail any team's season. Unfortunately, it happens every year, and sometimes before we even reach the regular season.

Below, we will break down all of the notable injuries from around the league as we enter the third week of the preseason.

Aug. 20: Lions coach Dan Campbell said LaPorta is dealing with a hip injury suffered earlier in the week and is uncertain for Week 1.

"It flared up a little bit, it's a little aggravated," Campbell said Thursday. "But we feel good long-term about him. We'll rest him for a little bit here and letting it calm down."

LaPorta had a season-ending back injury last year.

Aug. 17: New York Jets star running back Breece Hall will miss two to three weeks -- but is expected to be available for Week 1 -- after suffering a non-contact groin strain after making a catch in practice.

Aug. 16: The No. 3 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft had an explosive preseason debut, rushing for 58 yards on 11 carries, and turned three receptions into 14 yards. However, he left with what was determined to be a high ankle sprain.

Cardinals head coach Mike LaFleur initially said that Jeremiyah Love "could have returned" to action, but two days later said the rookie would not practice this week or play in Week 2 of the preseason. High ankle sprains are issues that can linger, so it's fair to speculate about his status for the season opener on Sept. 13.

Aug. 14: It turns out the Cardinals' top two picks from this year's draft were injured in the preseason opener, but the news is much worse for No. 34 overall pick Chase Bisontis. The Texas A&M product unfortunately tore his MCL, and will miss his entire rookie season. Bisontis was viewed as one of the top interior linemen in this past class, having played snaps at both guard and center. Now, he is forced to turn his efforts to recovery.

Aug. 19: Higgins tore his ACL in the Texans' joint practice with the Ravens on Tuesday, ESPN reported Wednesday. The 2025 second-round pick was expected to take a step forward after a strong debut season in which he caught 41 passes for 525 yards and a team-high six touchdowns.

Aug. 19: Oweh, who signed a four-year, $96 million deal with the Commanders this offseason, is dealing with a calf strain, per coach Dan Quinn. After breaking out over the second half of last season with the Chargers, Oweh was impressing in training camp, too. Wednesday was a tough day for Washington front-seven injury news, with K'Lavon Chaisson dealing with a knee injury (not expected to be serious) and Johnny Newton seeing a specialist for a pec injury that could be a long-term issue.

Aug. 19: Meeting with the media Wednesday, Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio said there's concern regarding Greenard's availability for Week 1 due to a pec injury. The Eagles acquired Greenard from the Vikings for a third-round pick and gave him a four-year, $98 million contract this offseason.

Aug. 15: Adams suffered a torn quadricep during the Vikings' preseason opener, head coach Kevin O'Connell announced. It's a season-ending injury for Adams, who signed with Minnesota in late July. He's expected to stay around the team during his recovery, O'Connell said. Adams also suffered the same injury during his time with the Seattle Seahawks back in 2022, but this one is to the opposite leg.

Aug. 17: Monangai reportedly suffered a hyperextended knee during a weekend practice. He's expected to miss multiple weeks but the outcome is considered positive, according to ESPN. D'Andre Swift is likely to carry a heavier workload if Monangai has to miss any time during the regular season, but he has around four weeks to recover.

Aug. 17: Tyson is expected to be out approximately two months with a hamstring injury suffered last week and could begin the season on injured reserve. It's a huge blow for the Saints, who took Tyson with the No. 8 overall pick in this year's NFL Draft. Tyson has a history of hamstring injuries, but according to NFL Media, this one is new and considered unrelated to his prior issues.

Aug. 18: Kamara left the Saints' joint practice with the Cowboys early with a knee injury and will miss at least a month with an MCL sprain, per ESPN's Adam Schefter, meaning Kamara will miss Week 1. The five-time Pro Bowler is expected to have a reduced role after the Saints signed Travis Etienne Jr. but still provides strong pass-catching ability. Kendre Miller could see a larger role.

Aug. 18: Biadasz, signed to a three-year, $30 million deal this offseason to fill Los Angeles' major need at center, suffered ACL damage and additional knee injuries and is out indefinitely, per Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport, after a gruesome-looking injury at the Chargers' joint practice with the 49ers. He was carted off the field and unable to put any weight on his leg per ESPN's Kris Rhim and The Athletic's Daniel Popper. For more analysis on this injury, click here.

Aug. 11: Egbuka suffered a toe sprain, and at the time it wasn't deemed a significant setback. However, on Aug. 18, coach Todd Bowles struck a different tone, calling both Egbuka and his fellow wide receiver Jalen McMillan (knee) "day to day, week to week" and saying he's unsure if the injury will impact Egbuka's availability for Week 1.

Aug. 17: Tennessee Titans backup quarterback Mitch Trubisky was seen holding his throwing arm after a deep pass attempt. Head coach Robert Saleh said he's being evaluated for a biceps injury. Depending on the severity, this could open the door for Will Levis to see more reps.

Aug 23: The Seattle Seahawks will be without their second-round pick for "several months," according to coach Mike Macdonald. Safety Bud Clark, the No. 64 overall pick in the 2026 draft, played just one snap in the Seahawks' second preseason game before sustaining a broken right ankle. He remained on the field for multiple minutes as trainers placed an air cast on his leg and eventually carted him into the locker room. Clark made waves in camp and took numerous reps with the first-team offense as a potential starter or, at the very least, a key member of the defensive backfield rotation. Now he will watch most, if not all, of his rookie year from the sideline.

Aug. 25: After sitting out the entire offseason program following ankle surgery, Pierce will "hopefully" return to practice later this week if all goes well, head coach Shane Steichen said. It would be an extremely welcome development for the Colts to get Pierce back on the field, given how much they paid him this offseason and how much the offense relies on his field-stretching capabilities.

Aug. 25: Warren is expected to be out at least through this week with the groin injury he suffered last week, per Steichen, who said the Colts are going to be "pretty smart" with the injury so that the tight end can be ready for Week 1. Warren should be a major factor for the Indianapolis passing game, assuming he returns to full health, alongside Pierce, Josh Downs and the recently signed Keenan Allen.
